about
This song is about the university town that we live in. Coming from a much larger city I always feel so lonely and bored in this helplessly suburban city. I have a love-hate relationship with Guelph. So much to offer, yet so little ever is. If only it could take itself seriously, even for a moment and step away from its puritanical roots. The cities landmark is the cathedral that sits on top of the hill. I personally see it as a loathsome presence that looms over the city, a dark cloud, nimbus.
lyrics
I’ve been sent to space
They wouldn’t let me stay down here with you
So I’m spread across the sky 15 miles high
You should really see the view. Blink and you might lose
This year has been the worst, feels like I’ve been cursed
Dark and loathsome cloud, sick miasmic shroud
Dark and loathsome cloud, you should see me now
Spinning off the earth, I swear that was my worst
Oh dark cloud, yeah nimbus
Know that all that you are is all that they are
I love this university town, with nothing to do and no one around
Condolences to sanity were holding out for gravity!
And that's the way we raised our kids, that's the way its always been
Warm hello, cold goodbye. Strengthen up the alibi
Because I’m your puritanical child don’t get knocked up be home by five
Asking what that lord will do? Shut the fuck up and eat your food
Ohhhh dark cloud, yeah nimbus. Don’t be defeatist unless you mean it
Yeah, dark clouds, never think loud, breath in and wait now for my sign
I love the way that we make do, you didn’t want me I didn’t want you
It’s great when things are oh so easy, break my heart I’ll call it pleasing
That’s just me and just not you, a life far short of pay per view
“I was young but now I’m older” that’s the only lie I told her
All is easy now. Please see me Cross my heart and hope to die, slit my wrists and look alive
Ohhhh dark cloud, yeah nimbus. You're not so fearless, please just hear this
Yeah dark clouds, never sing loud, drink in the last round of our lives
